Bead Soup Blog Party Reveal 8

Well it's finally here the 8th annual Bead Soup Blog Party. This year my partner was Dawn Williams of Sadie Jewelry Design.
Please visit her web site to see what she has created.  She sent me this lovely bead soup for my challenge.

 I made several pieces.

I used the focal and clasp in an offset necklace. I made earrings to match,

The remainder of the soup I made into another necklace
 and two bracelets.

I enjoyed creating these pieces. Please visit http://www.prettythingsblog.com/ for list of participants

Out of my hole

Wow, I must have fell down a rabbit hole. It's been almost 8 months since that last time I wrote anything.
When my camera broke, I stopped writing. I had no way to post any pictures and my jewelry making seemed to come to a screeching halt. I just didn't realize how much of a halt.  I am working my way back out of my state of funk and have started looking for that perfect camera for me.
I've bought more beads to get my creative juices flowing again. The days are starting to warm up some and I'm not sitting curled up by the stove shivering. While we didn't get the snow most of the country has had, the temperatures have been brutal on the bones.
I was disappointed in myself not keeping up with my year of jewelry challenge and had hope to participate in this years, but I just couldn't motivate myself and again no camera.
I have how ever joined the 8th annual bead soup blog party! I am so excited to find out who will be my partner this year. Hopefully in the next day or two I will. So here's to dusting off myself.

Bead Hoarders Blog Hop

I joined this blog hop not because I had any special beads in particular. I joined because I had many beads that I just didn't know what to do with. So they've laid around....for a very long time. This seemed like a perfect opportunity to use some of those really ugly beads that I just didn't want to throw away.

These green glass cubes have been around forever, I just didn't know what to do with them. They are very pretty and are one of the beads I can say I felt were too pretty to use. The rose quartz worked very well with them. I like how it turned out.

The two pictures below are actually the same pair of earrings. The stripes don't go all away around. They came out nicer then I thought they would. I've had these beads for as long as I've had beads. I never really liked them because the design didn't seem finished. Now that they are made, I like them a lot.

This is a bead I have had forever because it was just so ugly. The cable I strung it on was part of a lawn mower throttle cable I found laying outside in the driveway. The hook closure I made out an old rusted wire. It came out great and is my favorite.

I had other beads but I just couldn't seem to come up with anything I liked. I guess I'll hang on to them until I'm inspired to make something with them, or another blog hop comes around.

Week 24 - Commitment

For week 24 the theme was Commitment. I made  it simple. A ring, a key and a heart. To me, these are symbols of commitment.

A year in Jewelry - Week 23

I'm going to be playing catch up with my Year in Jewelry Project. I borrowed my husband's camera. I don't know when I will be able to afford to buy another. Week 23's theme was twins, so I made this cute little glass and resin earrings. Just perfect for a fun summer's eve.

You can find week 23 here

A year in Jewelry - Week 22

My camera bit the dust for week 22 so this came off my cell phone camera. Not good quality at all.
Week 22- is Circles, Squares, Triangles

This piece is made of dyed mother-of-pearl and hardware washers. I really like how it came out.

Bead Horders Blog Hop Coming July 20th

Time to use some beads that I have been saving forever. They are not necessarily the prettiest beads ever. Some are actually pretty ugly. These are the beads I've been saving and hoping that someday I would have some inspiration to use them. That time is now.
There are a few that I have saved that I just kept just because.

So Lori Anderson came up with this great idea.

July 20th will be the reveal of mine and many other bead hoarders.

A Year in Jewelry: Week 21- Cuffs for All

Well I'm a week behind on my year of jewelry and quickly coming up on two weeks behind. I am a persistent person so I will catch up. I've been using a lot of my "spare" time writing on my other blog "The Sock Zone" Check it out , you may learn something about me.

So here is week 21 of the year in jewelry "Cuffs for All" This is my very first wire woven cuff. It's got a lot of dings but I like how it turned out. I made it from the tutorial by Nancy Wickman.

Go here to see what was made for this weeks challenge.
